2030 Sustainable Winegrowing Australia Strategy

Advisory Board/8 October 2026

The Sustainable Winegrowing Australia Advisory Board has officially adopted our 2030 Strategy. Executive Officer Siobhan Wigan and the technical team are now ready to implement this clear roadmap. The strategy is built on a core belief: a thriving, sustainable wine industry depends on environmental health, strong communities, and market trust. Ultimately, our purpose is to support and enable Australian grapegrowers and winemakers to embed and demonstrate sustainable practices that strengthen environmental, social, and economic outcomes.

To guide the program over the coming years, the strategy outlines five main objectives. We aim to improve cost-effectiveness, the user experience, and the overall value for our members. We are also working towards a single sustainability strategy for the Australian grape and wine sector, anchored securely on the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia program. Further objectives include empowering members and customers to act as program advocates, reducing our financial dependence on the Australian Wine Research Institute, Wine Australia, and Australian Grape and Wine, and strengthening market opportunities for Australian wine.

This work is underpinned by the key enablers of data, governance, brand, and engagement. As we roll out the 2030 Strategy, the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia team will be guided by our core values, remaining authentic, disciplined, collaborative, responsive, knowledgeable, and passionate in everything we do.
